Technical Writing

"Before, During and After a Career Fair"

In this project I was able to complete technical writing that is representative of work within instructional contexts while developing knowledge of the instructional writing process and page design layout.

Context

Time frame of project:

October 2017

Team members:

This project was completed individually with peer review of drafts.

Scope of project:

Series of three digital articles with original imagery.

Project Overview

Choosing a content area in which we were familiar, the assignment was to write three short articles that read as a series. The topic needed to be specific enough to warrant detailed explanation. The articles required appropriate imagery that was originally created. The visual layout of the articles followed that of a journal or informational publication.

As I work in career services, I chose the topic of career fairs and created a series of three articles covering the "before, during, and after" actions a college student should take to successfully navigate the career fair process. Prior to writing the series, I created a style guide covering the tone, content selection, reading level, balance between text and graphics, and general editorial conventions.
