"The Best Online You"
In this project, I was able to work on a team of three to design and develop instructional materials utilizing a wide variety of instructional design skills as well as enhancing communication and collaboration abilities. Below are highlighted aspects of the project.
Context
Time frame of project:
September-December 2016
Team members:
Three IST master's student from various backgrounds and experience including higher education, business and information systems.
Individual contributions:
Task analysis, assessment tools, learner analysis, instructional strategy, design of instructor's guide, presentation section on social media platforms
Project Overview
Teams of 2-3 were formed and allowed to chose a topic in which to teach a concept, procedure or attitude (or combination of). The topic to be taught had to involve decision-making, problem-solving, and/or deep understanding for the target learner to be successful. The topic could not be one that any team member had taught previously. Our team chose to design instruction to teach the concept of an online presence and specifically how to create and maintain a professional online presence utilizing various social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin.
Our instructional strategy identified how the instructor would present content to achieve the learning objectives, included meaningful learning activities to benefit the learner, and provided assessment to gauge the effectiveness of the instruction. We provided a detailed outline, time frame and content components for each learning objective within our strategy as well as a complete Power point presentation for in-class instruction.
One of my main focuses and contributions within our project was to design the Instructor's Guide as part of our instructional materials package for which we received an exceptional rating.
